Dallas Sidekicks News Release

DALLAS - The Dallas Sidekicks had their five game home winning streak snapped in a 6-4 loss to the San Diego Sockers at Reunion Arena Saturday.

The Sidekicks (7-6) attempt to rally from a 6-2 fourth-quarter deficit fell short. Beau Brown scored at 11:23 of the fourth to make it 6-3. Brown scored a sixth attacker goal at 13:15 on a Nick Stavrou assist. The Sidekicks also had scoring opportunities from Leo Pernia and Ricardinho in the closing minutes, but didn't get any closer than 6-4.

San Diego (4-6) built the lead on three unanswered goals, starting with Nino DaSilva at 13:30 of the third quarter. Mariano Bollella followed with his second and third goals of the game at 2:25 and 5:39 of the fourth. His last goal came on a shootout awarded when Patrick Shamu was called for pushing.

After a scoreless first half, Kevin Legg put the Sockers on the board at 3:35 of the third period. Pernia tied the game for Dallas on a restart 37 seconds later. Mark Ughy scored next for the Sockers at 9:17 and Bollella scored a penalty kick at 9:48 of the third quarter after Leo Pernia was called for pushing. Shamu pulled the Sidekicks within a goal at 12:32 of the third when he netted a pass off the boards from Fabinho.

There were no goals scored in the first half marking the first time the Sidekicks have been involved in a scoreless opening half since a 4-3 win at the original Kansas City Comets March 3, 1991. The loss made Dallas 0-3 on the second game of back-to-backs this season. The Sidekicks are 3-0 in the first game.

The Sidekicks now hold a one and a half game lead on the San Diego Sockers (4-6) in the MISL western division. The Sidekicks next game is at the Sockers Saturday December 20 at 9:05 p.m. Coverage on KSKY 660 AM begins at approximately 6:50 p.m. with television on KFWD channel 52 beginning at 9:00 p.m.
