Sidekicks Advance With 7-4 Win Over Cleveland

DALLAS - The Dallas Sidekicks overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat the Cleveland Force 7-4 in the MISL Quarterfinal at Reunion Arena Saturday. The Sidekicks advance to play at the Baltimore Blast in the one game MISL Semifinal Friday April 16 at 6:35 p.m.

The Sidekicks (22-15) scored the final five goals of the game in comeback. Cleveland took a 4-2 lead on a goal by Hector Marinaro 1:23 into the third quarter. The rally started when David Doyle converted a penalty kick at 10:52 of the third. The shot came when Cleveland's Josh Timbers was called for pushing in the penalty box. The score was Doyle's 12th postseason power play for the Sidekicks, tying him with Tatu for the franchise record.

Dallas tied the game at 4-4 when Kiley Couch netted a pass from Ricardinho with 30 seconds left in the third frame. Beau Brown put Dallas back in front on a man advantage score 9:46 into the fourth period. It was the Sidekicks first lead since a 2-1 edge midway through the second stanza. Brown's goal turned out to be the game-winner. Patrick Shamu followed by scoring off a wall pass from Fabinho with 1:59 to play. Brown sealed the win 23 seconds later with an empty-net goal.

Cleveland (15-22) took the 4-2 lead on two goals from Antonio Sutton and one each from Adauto Neto and Marinaro. Dallas had second half goals from Leo Pernia and Doyle. Doyle's two goals give him 188 career points in the playoffs. He is one behind Steve Zungul for fourth all-time.

The Sidekicks game at Baltimore (25-11) April 16 starts at 6:35 p.m. The winner advances to the MISL Championship Series, which is a best of five with a two-two-one format. Coverage on KSKY 660 AM begins at 6:20 p.m.
