
Force Falls To Dallas In MISL Quarterfinals

DALLAS, TEXAS â The Cleveland Force traveled to the Lone Star State to take on the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Western Division Champion and third seeded Dallas Sidekicks in the MISL Quarterfinals at Reunion Arena. The Force was defeated the Sidekicks by a final score of 7-4.
With the loss, Cleveland ends the season for the second straight season in the opening round of the MISL Playoffs. With the victory, Dallas advances to the MISL Semifinals to take on the defending MISL Champion, Eastern Division Champion and second seeded Baltimore Blast on Friday, April 16 at the 1st Mariner Arena in a one game series. In the other MISL Semifinal game, the fifth seeded Kansas City Comets will take on the Central Division Champion and number one seed Milwaukee Wave on Friday, April 16 at the U.S. Cellular Arena in a one game series.
The Force opened the scoring (1-0) when forward Antonio Sutton scored his first career MISL playoff goal off the first career MISL playoff assist and point for forward Joel Bailey at 6:35 of the first quarter.
The Sidekicks tied the game and opened the second quarter scoring (1-1) when Leo Pernia found the back of the net off the rebound shot of Patrick Shamu at 3:53. Dallas took its first lead of the game (2-1) when David Doyle scored the goal at the near post off the second assist of the quarter for Shamu at 7:35. Cleveland tied the game for the second time (2-2) when forward Adauto Neto scored his first career MISL goal as he beat two defenders and a sliding goalkeeper D.J. Horvath for the score at 8:56. The Force regained the lead (3- 2) when Sutton scored his second goal of the half on the restart pass and first career MISL assist for Neto at 14:14.
Cleveland added to its lead and opened the second half scoring (4-2) when Hector Marinaro, the all-time leader in goals scored in playoff history, found the back of the net off the first career MISL playoff assist for Sutton at 1:23 of the third quarter. The Sidekicks cut into the lead (4-3) when Doyle scored his second goal of the game on the penalty kick at 10:52. Dallas tied the game for the third time (4-4) when the Force had its clear attempt bounce right off the referee to Kiley Couch who then found the back of the net at 14:29.
The Sidekicks regained the lead and opened the final quarter scoring (4-5) when Beau Brown scored the power play goal off the rebound shot of Martin Nash and the kick save by Cleveland goalkeeper Jim Larkin at 9:46. Dallas added to its lead (4-6) when Shamu found the back of the net off the pass from Ricardinho at 13:01. The Sidekicks sealed the game (4-7) when Brown scored his second goal of the game against the Cleveland sixth attacker.
