[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] - Rob Sich of the Fayetteville FireAntz, today, was named the Sher-wood Player of the Month in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). He becomes the second FireAntz player to ever win the award, joining Dean Jackson, who won the award for October/November of 2006.

The Windsor, Ontario native played in 13 games in the month of February tallying 14 goals, 14 assists, 28 points and a +12 rating.

Sich is the second leading scorer in the SPHL (69 points) trailing Knoxville's Kevin Swider by only two points. His 35 goals ranks him first in the SPHL, four ahead of Columbus' Ryan Rutz.

Since joining the FireAntz from the now-defunct Florida Seals, Sich has played in 16 games tallying 18 goals and 16 assists while compiling a +17 rating. The club has gone 11-4-1 over that 16-game span.

"Rob's impact was felt the moment he stepped foot into our locker room," Player/Assistant Coach Rob Meanchoff said. "We're extremely happy to have Rob as a member of this team and are very proud of him for being named Player of the Month."

The FireAntz next home games are this weekend, Friday March 2nd and Saturday, March 3rd at the Crown Coliseum. The I-95 rivalries will heat up as the Richmond Renegades invade the Crown on Friday and the Pee Dee Cyclones on Saturday. Great seats still remain and there are outstanding group rates available from the FireAntz office at (910) 321-0123.
