
SI Yankees to Help SI Branches of NYC Public Library Kick Off Their Summer Reading Program

[Staten Island, NY] â The Staten Island Yankees and the New York City Public Library will team up this summer to bring some fun to summer reading.
The Staten Island Yankees will donate one ticket to each child participating in the program. In addition, Scooter the Holy Cow and a player on the Staten Island Yankees will make one appearance at each branch over the summer.
Each child that participates in the Summer Reading program at their local branch will receive one ticket voucher to the September 3 game against the New Jersey Cardinals.
The Yankees and the NYC Public Library will kick off this event on Tuesday, July 1 at 1:00 p.m. at the Main Branch in St. George.
This is the latest community initiative for the Staten Island Yankees this season. In addition to the summer reading club, the Yankees have had Scooter appear at numerous events sponsored by the 120th Precinct. Scooter and the Yankees each received an award at the annual 120 Precinct Community Council Awards Dinner on June 19th. Scooter has logged more than 100 appearance hours so far this year.
Below is the appearance schedule for the summer. Each appearance will begin at 1:00 p.m.:
July 1 at St. George Library Center, 5 Central Avenue
July 15 at Port Richmond, 75 Bennett Street
July 24 at Huguenot Park, 830 Huguenot Avenue
July 28 at Stapleton, 132 Canal Street
August 5 at Richmond Town, 200 Clarke Avenue
August 13 at Tottenville, 7430 Amboy Road
August 18 at West New Brighton, 976 Castleton Avenue
The date for the Dongan Hills branch is still to be determined. There will be no appearance in Great Kills because the branch is closed for the summer for renovations.
