BURLINGTON, VT --- It could start getting crowded in the Vermont Expos dugout.
Vermont Expos Director of Public Relations/Promotions Adrienne Wilson will join General Manager C.J. Knudsen and Director of Ticket Operations/Design Nate Cloutier in the Expos dugout overnight if Vermont loses its eighth straight game, the team announced today.
With the team off to the worst start in franchise history, currently at 1-12 and losers of seven straight games, Knudsen made the statement on Friday that if the team lost Friday at Auburn and Saturday at home to Tri-City he would sleep overnight in the Vermont dugout until the team broke it's losing streak.
The Expos did lose Friday 8-1 to Auburn and then again at Centennial Field on Saturday to Tri-City 5-2. Knudsen made good on his promise, spending Saturday night on a rollaway cot in the Vermont dugout. After a 6-4 loss to Tri-City on Sunday, Cloutier joined Knudsen for another campout overnight in the dugout .
Monday, Wilson agreed to become the next member of the Vermont Expos staff to sleep overnight in the Vermont dugout if the Expos lose their third straight game to Tri-City at Centennial Field.
"I'm ready to do it, but I have faith in our players that they'll get the job done tonight and let us sleep in our own beds," Wilson said. "I just hope my tent will fit in the dugout, because I'm afraid of bugs.
Vermont has home games remaining with Tri-City Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before heading out on the road early Thursday morning for two games at Oneonta. The Expos front office staff is certainly hoping they won't be in the dugout to see them off.
