Vermont Lake Monsters News Release

BURLINGTON, VT --- Make it three in the Vermont Expos dugout.

General Manager C.J. Knudsen (third night), Director of Ticket Operations Nate Cloutier (second night) and now Director of Public Relations Adrienne Wilson (first night) will spend the night sleeping in the Expos dugout to try and end the Vermont skid to start the season.

The Tri-City ValleyCats handed the Vermont Expos their eight straight loss and fifth shutout defeat of the season with a 4-0 victory at Centennial Field on Monday night in New York-Penn League action.

The ValleyCats scored the only run they would need in the first when Josh Anderson, who had taken off for second base, scored all the way from first when pitcher Jeremy Plexico's pickoff attempt was missed by first baseman Joel Noboa and went down the rightfield line.

Tri-City added one unearned run in the sixth and two more unearned runs in the ninth as Vermont committed four errors in the game.

Derick Grisby (2-1) allowed three hits over 5.2 innings with seven strikeouts for the victory. After a leadoff single in the second inning for their third hit, the Expos did not have another base hit for the game.

Vermont did have a chance to get back into the game in the eighth inning when they loaded the bases on a hit batter and two walks. But Sam Fischer came on to strikeout Brad Ditter to end the inning and leave the Expos down 2-0 at the time.

Fischer pitched the ninth inning for his first save of the year. Plexico (0-1) allowed one run on five hits over 4.1 innings in his first start of the season, filling in for Brett Nyquist who had has strep throat.

Vermont (1-13) and Tri-City (6-7) will play game four of the five-game series on Tuesday night beginning at 7:05 p.m. Devin Perrin (0-1) will be on the mound for the Expos on WOKO Youth Baseball/Softball night as all youth players get in free.
