Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - The Rome Braves (5-17) fell to the Hickory Crawdads (14-8) 15-0 on Thursday night in game one of a four game series.
The Crawdads struck early in the first on a two run single by Nomar Mazara and back to back RBI singles by Kellin Deglan and Joe Jackson to take a 4-0 lead. That would be all Hickory would need as they added six runs in the second, four runs in the fifth, and one run in the sixth for the final 15-0 shutout victory. Hickory had fifteen hits in the game.
One bright spot for the Braves came as the bullpen collectively had 14 strikeouts on the night.
Scott Williams (1-0) gets the win while Tyler Brosius (2-7) is charged with the loss.
Roster Move: The Rome Braves announce that pitcher Tyler Vail and catcher Carlos Sanchez have been transferred to Danville of the Appalachian league. Rome receives RHP Matt Kimbrel and 23rd round pick OF Tanner Krietemeier. Both come from Danville. The roster is at 25 players.
The Rome Braves take on Hickory again tomorrow night at 7 p.m. It is Diamond Dig night presented by Greene's Jewelers. For information contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
