Mississippi Braves News Release

MONTGOMERY, AL - LHP Jared Shuster shined yet again, tying his career high with 7.0 innings, but the Mississippi Braves (5-13) missed some opportunities with runners in scoring position in a 5-0 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits (9-8) on Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium. The game was the shortest in club history at one hour and 48 minutes.

Shuster's final line was two runs off four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in 7.0 innings. Atlanta's No. 10 prospect matched the career high in innings pitched that he set last Friday against Chattanooga.

Shuster holds a 2-2 record with a 1.88 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 24.0 innings.

Michael Harris II took just one pitch to extend his on-base streak to 18 games, lining the first pitch of the game into center field for a base hit. The outfielder is hitting .315 with two home runs, 15 RBI and seven stolen bases.

The M-Braves got the leadoff hitter on-base in the first five innings but went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and grounded into four double plays.

Hendrik Clementina highlighted the lineup, going 2-for-3 with a triple.

The game was scoreless through the first six innings. Montgomery exploded late with a two-run homer from Evan Edwards and a three-run homer from Curtis Mead.

Game four of the six-game series is on Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium. RHP Alan Rangel (0-1, 10.57) makes the start for Mississippi against LHP Ian Seymour (0-0, 10.00) for Montgomery. The first pitch is at 6:35 pm, with coverage starting at 6:20 pm on 103.9 WYAB, TuneIn Radio, First Pitch App, and MiLB.tv.

The M-Braves return to Trustmark Park May 3-8 against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Fans can purchase tickets by visiting mississippibraves.com or by calling 888-BRAVES4.
