Biloxi Shuckers News Release
BILOXI, MS - Prior to their May 19 'Mississippi Sea Wolves Tribute Night,' the Biloxi Shuckers have released the design of their special Hockey Jerseys for the evening. Shuckers' players will wear these special jerseys during the game, and an auction will be held during the game for fans to bid on the game-worn jerseys, with net proceeds benefiting the Singing River Health System Foundation.
Emblazoned on the front of the jersey is the Shuckers primary logo, set on a navy background. A stripe wraps around the front and back of the jerseys, dividing the navy background from the bright red base of the jersey. The Mississippi Sea Wolves logo graces the left sleeve of the jerseys, which are made in the likeness of the jerseys worn by the Sea Wolves during their 1998-99 Championship season.
A special touch for Sea Wolves Tribute Night is a sewn-in hockey fight strap included on the back. A signature piece of hockey jerseys, the fight strap attaches the player's jersey to their pants, ensuring that the jersey cannot come off during a fight. "We wanted to add a unique twist to these specialty hockey jerseys, and as far as we can tell, 'pull off' a first for a professional baseball jersey to include the fight strap component," explained Shuckers Business Development Manager Chris Birch, who worked with both the Sea Wolves and Mississippi Surge from 2005-2011.
Bidding on the jerseys will be conducted in a silent auction in front of the Shuckers Shop through the middle of the fifth inning. In the top of the sixth inning, bidding will go live in the same location. Special Sea Wolves t-shirts are also available for purchase in both the Shuckers Shop and online at shuckers.milbstore.com.
During their game against the Chattanooga Lookouts on May 19, the Shuckers will recognize the 20-year anniversary season when the 1998-99 Sea Wolves won the Kelly Cup in historic fashion. Former Sea Wolves goaltender and fan favorite Chuck Thuss will be on hand to throw out a ceremonial first pitch. In the 1998-99 season, Thuss played in 37 games and was a key part of the Kelly Cup Championship team. The night will celebrate all things hockey, the Sea Wolves, and the historic Championship. Established in 1996, the Sea Wolves played eleven seasons at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
As part of another Super Saturday at MGM Park, the first 1,000 fans will receive a Beach Towel courtesy of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi.
Single game tickets for the Biloxi Shuckers 2018 season are on sale now and can be purchased at the MGM Park box office or over the phone through Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000. Season tickets, flex plans and group outings are also available and can be reserved by calling 228-233-3465 or visiting www.biloxishuckers.com.
