Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (22-30, 50-70) defeated the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (32-21, 62-59) by a 6-1 score in the fourth game of the five-game series at Blue Wahoos Stadium on Friday night.

Jacksonville right-handed starting pitcher Dustin Beggs (1-0) earned the win in his Double-A debut. His first five innings were scoreless, and in six innings of work he allowed one unearned run on one hit with two walks and three strikeouts. He also recorded a base hit in his first professional at-bat, a slow roller down the third base line. Pensacola right-handed starting pitcher Daniel Wright (6-9) took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Jacksonville right-handed relief pitcher Kolton Mahoney worked the final three innings in scoreless fashion to earn his second save of the season.

For the third straight game, Jacksonville started the scoring in the top of the first, with Justin Twine delivering an RBI groundout to third to score Monte Harrison to put the lead at 1-0. Harrison then doubled the lead his next trip to the plate in the top of the third, hitting a towering homer, his 18th of the season, to deep left center field to make it a 2-0 lead. John Silviano kept the homer party going in the top of the fourth with a two-run shot to center to grow the lead to 4-0.

In the top of the sixth, Brian Schales hit into a double play to score Justin Twine from third to put the lead at 5-0. Twine had started the inning with a single, extending his hitting streak to a Jumbo Shrimp season-long 13 games. The Wahoos added their first run in the bottom of the sixth, when Narcisco Crook grounded into a force out, TJ Friedl scored from third to make it 5-1. Jacksonville promptly got a run back in the top of the seventh off Reds right-handed pitcher Rookie Davis, with the Wahoos on major league rehab assignment, as Brian Miller recorded an infield single and an error by Davis scored Anfernee Seymour from third to put the score at 6-1, which would be the final.

With their third straight win, the Jumbo Shrimp clinched a series victory, and the Jumbo Shrimp have won their last three road series.

The Jumbo Shrimp and Wahoos will finish their series with the fifth contest of the five-game set on Saturday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium at 7:35 p.m. eastern.
