
Shrimp Surge Past Lookouts 5-4

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (24-36, 52-76) defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts (25-34, 61766) by a 5-4 score in the second game of the five-game series at AT&T Field on Saturday night.
Trailing 4-1 going to the top of the ninth, the Shrimp used a four-run rally to move past the Lookouts to even the series at one game apiece, with Brian Miller bringing in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth with an RBI double.
Jacksonville left-handed relief pitcher Miguel Del Pozo (5-0) earned the victory by getting the last out in the eighth, while Chattanooga left-handed relief pitcher Anthony Marzi took the loss by allowing the go-ahead run to score in the ninth. Tommy Eveld struck out the side in order in the bottom of the ninth to pick up his fourth save of the season in the Southern League.
The first seven innings were scoreless, and then John Norwood blasted a solo home run to a light tower beyond left-center field to give Jacksonville a 1-0 lead. The home run was his first since July 11 when he also homered off Lookouts left-handed reliever Tyler Jay, the man he homered off of in this game.
Jumbo Shrimp right-handed starter Nick Neidert's first seven innings were scoreless until the Lookouts tied the game in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Mitchell Kranson to put the score at 1-1. Two batters later, Andy Wilkins hit a three-run homer to right to put the Lookouts on top 4-1.
The Jumbo Shrimp loaded the bases with one out to begin the ninth inning, then Sharif Othman got Jacksonville closer with a two-run single to cut Chattanooga's lead to 4-3. Anfernee Seymour then reached on a fielder's choice and drove in Norwood from third to tie the game at 4-4. With two outs, Miller hit a deep fly ball to right to score Seymour from first base, and his RBI double was the difference in the game.
Chattanooga right-handed starting pitcher Tyler Wells worked the first six innings ins scoreless fashion with three hits allowed, two walks and seven strikeouts. Neidert went seven and two-thirds innings for Jacksonville, allowing four runs on eight hits with no walks and seven strikeouts in his no decision.
The Jumbo Shrimp and Lookouts will continue their series with the third contest of the five-game set on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Field at 2:15 p.m. eastern. Right-handed pitcher Robert Dugger (6-5, 4.20 ERA) will start for Jacksonville against Chattanooga left--handed pitcher Dietrich Enns (3-5, 4.45 ERA). Jacksonville returns home Thursday, Aug. 30, for the season's final series with the Mississippi Braves, beginning with a doubleheader at 5:05 p.m. on Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, when fans can purchase $1 12-oz. and $2 24-oz. beers adjacent to the Budweiser Tiki Terrace, the right-field concourse, and the Oasis concession stand behind section 115. $1 small sodas are sold at the concession stands. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. for Football Night in Jax, when fans can enter to win tickets to many different football games in the southeast. Jacksonville University Night will include alumni and students celebrating the start of another year at Jacksonville University. The game is also presented by Cox Media.
