BILOXI, Miss. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (52-58, 23-27) defeated the Biloxi Shuckers (65-45, 24-16) by a 4-0 score in the first game of the five-game series at MGM Park on Thursday night.

Jacksonville left-handed starting pitcher Daniel Castano (4-1) earned the victory by tossing seven scoreless innings where he allowed four hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Biloxi right-handed starting pitcher Bowden Francis (5-7) took the loss, working five innings where he allowed three runs (all earned) on seven hits with no walks and eight strikeouts.

The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth inning. With two outs Jazz Chisholm in his Marlins organization debut recorded an RBI triple to put the Shrimp in front 1-0. The next batter Lewin Diaz powered out his first Jumbo Shrimp homer, a two-run shot to left that made it 3-0 Jacksonville.

Jacksonville's next run came in the top of the seventh inning off Biloxi left-handed relief pitcher Daniel Brown. Jazz Chisholm hit a solo home run to deep right center to grow Jacksonville's lead to 4-0, which would be the final.

Chisholm finished the game 3-for-4 with a home run, triple, two runs batted in, two runs scored, and he was a double shy of hitting for the cycle.

After Castano's seven scoreless innings, Vincenzo Aiello worked a scoreless eighth before Tommy Eveld worked a scoreless ninth inning to preserve the shutout win.
