
Chisholm, Vesia to Jacksonville; Lee to New Orleans; Twine to Jupiter

BILOXI, Miss. - The Miami Marlins announced a series of transactions that impact their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp roster prior to tonight's game against the Biloxi Shuckers at MGM Park at 7:35 p.m. eastern.
Shortstop Jazz Chisholm has been acquired by the Miami Marlins in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for right-handed pitcher Zac Gallen. Chisholm has been assigned to Double-A Jacksonville. Chisholm in 2019 has been playing in the Southern League with the Jackson Generals, hitting .204 with 18 home runs (second most in the league) and 44 RBI. Chisholm is now regarded by MLB Pipeline as the Marlins No. 4 prospect, and No. 59 in the MLB Pipeline Top 100.
In a corresponding move, infielder Justin Twine has been transferred from Jacksonville to High-A Jupiter. Twine, a 2019 Southern League Midseason All-Star, played in 92 games for the Jumbo Shrimp hitting .242 with a home run and 30 RBI.
Left-handed relief pitcher Dylan Lee has been transferred from Jacksonville to Triple-A New Orleans. Lee with the Jumbo Shrimp pitched in 32 games, collecting a club-high 13 saves while going 0-3 with a 1.91 ERA. Lee earlier this season for the Baby Cakes pitched in 5 games, going 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA in six innings of work.
In a corresponding move, left-handed relief pitcher Alex Vesia has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. With the Hammerheads, Vesia was 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA with one save in 10 appearances out of the bullpen. Vesia started the season with Single-A Clinton, going 1-2 with a 2.56 ERA in 19 appearances and one start, also collecting three saves. Vesia, 23, is a native of Alpine, California, and was originally selected by the Marlins in the 17th round of the 2018 draft out of Cal State East Bay.
The Jumbo Shrimp roster stands at 24 active players, plus Pablo Lopez on his major league rehab assignment, and a revised roster is attached.
Jacksonville begins a five-game series at Biloxi in Thursday's 7:35 p.m. contest. LHP Daniel Castano (3-1, 3.86 ERA) starts for the Jumbo Shrimp against Shuckers RHP Bowden Francis (5-6, 3.90 ERA). Coverage begins at 7:20 p.m. on MiLB.tv, Sunny 102.3 FM, TuneIn and jaxshrimp.com.
