St. Joseph Blacksnakes News Release

SHREVEPORT, LA-The southern swing ended in defeat for St. Joe (12-13, 38-35) by a 6-2 score in Shreveport (12-13, 38-35). Todd Self drove in four for the Sports, including his fourth home run in the win.

St. Joe struck right away, but left an opportunity on the bases in the first. They got a run on a Cody Nowlin single to make it 1-0, but left the bases loaded. The lead did not last long as Shreveport plated a pair of runs in the first on Todd Self's single and added another in the second to take a 3-1 lead.

After St. Joe loaded the bases a second time but did not score in the fourth, Shreveport's Melvin Falu hit a solo home run to extend the lead to 4-1.

St. Joe could only come up with a single run in the eighth on a Mark Burke run-scoring double getting to within 4-2 but Todd Self hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth to put the lid on the win for Shreveport.

The ‘Snakes could not get the big hit all night. St. Joe stranded nine runners on the night, five in scoring position including the bases loaded twice.

Now St. Joe has an off day Wednesday to return home before starting a four-game home series with the Sioux Falls Canaries Thursday night. Andrew Edwards (1-3) takes the hill for the Blacksnakes against the Canaries' Aaron Garrison (5-4). Game time is 7:05pm with the gates opening at 6pm. It's "Thirsty Thursday" and Single's Night at the ballpark for the first of the four-game series.
