Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

The Sioux Falls Skyforce enters the 2022 NBA Winter Showcase fresh off a six-game winning streak, the longest since the beginning of the 2018-19 season.

Despite the winning efforts and a 10-6 Showcase Cup season, due to tiebreakers the Skyforce sits just outside of the tournament portion of the Winter Showcase.

Sioux Falls is coming off a sweep of the Grand Rapids Gold on 12/12 and 12/14, where the Force edged the Gold 108-105. DJ Stewart led the way with 29 points on 11-18 FGA and a season-high five assists. Mychal Mulder added 18 points on 4-7 3PA, three rebounds and two steals in the winning effort.

A season ago, the Skyforce went 1-1 at the Winter Showcase, as Brandon Knight's 25 points in a 91-87 victory secured him an NBA Call-Up with the Dallas Mavericks. DJ Stewart went on to score 30 points in a loss to the Austin Spurs in the finale, the team that eventually signed him to a two-way deal later in the regular season.

The contest with Greensboro marks the first time the teams will play since the end of the 2017-18 season, when Briante Weber led Sioux Falls to a 121-107 victory with 25 points, four rebounds and four assists.

The Swarm comes into the game, dropping two of the last three games. A win for the Skyforce would be the first seven-game winning streak since the 2015-16 NBA G League championship season.

Sioux Falls finishes the 2022 NBA Winter Showcase on Wednesday, with a 10:30 PM CST battle with the Delaware Blue Coats (6-10). The Skyforce starts the regular season on December 27 at Oklahoma City (12:00 PM CST).
