NBA G League News & Notes: 2022 AT&T NBA G League Winter Showcase

TIME FOR THE SHOWCASE: The 2022 AT&T NBA G League Winter Showcase, the league's annual in-season scouting event, begins today and will run through Thursday, Dec. 22 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. The 2022 event marks the 18th Showcase and in- cludes 31 games over four days across two courts. Build- ing on the success of the 2021 Showcase Cup, the 2022 Winter Showcase will once again feature the expanded NBA G League Showcase Cup Tournament, a single-elimination tournament where eight teams will compete for the Showcase Cup Championship.
FINAL TARGET SCORE: New in this year's Showcase, all 31 games at the Showcase will utilize a 25-point Final Target Score during an untimed fourth quarter. Under this model, the Final Target Score will be the leading team's score after three quarters plus 25. For example, if the teams are tied at 100-100, the Final Target Score would 125.
LAKERS VS. CELTICS: Los Angeles Lakers two-way player Scotty Pippen Jr. (left) was named NBA G League Play- er of the Week for games played Monday, Dec. 12 through Saturday, Dec. 17. Pippen averaged 26.3 points and 4.7 assists across three games, leading South Bay to the No. 1 seed in the Showcase Cup Tournament. Pippen Jr. and South Bay will square off against the rival Maine Celtics tonight at 5 p.m. ET on ESPNU in the opening round of the Showcase Cup Tournament.
