Three Things You Need to Know

1.) Pre-Turkey Hockey- It will be a busy couple of days leading up to Thanksgiving as there are two games on Tuesday night and four contests on Wednesday night. On Tuesday, Wichita travels to Missouri and Fort Worth ends a long road trip in Tulsa and then on Wednesday, Allen is at Arizona, Quad City at Fort Worth, Denver at Rapid City and Bloomington is at Wichita. 2.) Battle for First- Although it is only November, a huge showdown begins on Wednesday night in Prescott Valley, Arizona when the Sundogs (7-4-3, 17 points) begin a three-game set against the Berry Conference leading Allen Americans (10-2-0, 20 points). Arizona is in a tie with Bloomington for second place in the conference and the Sundogs head into the three-game set on a four-game home win streak. Conversely, the Americans have won four straight on the road so something has to give. Allen defenseman Brett Skinner is currently on a league-best 12-game point streak that has him with four goals and 14 assists during the streak. Sundogs goaltender David Brown leads the league with a 1.98 goals against average and over his last five games has allowed just nine goals.

3.) Blaze's 1-2 Punch- Bloomington (8-3-1) has been outstanding for most of the season sitting in a tie with Arizona for second place in the Berry Conference and posting a 2-0-1 record in their last three games. The Blaze have received great offensive production from the one-two punch of Jon Booras and Nicklas Lindberg who are the top scoring duo in the CHL. Booras leads the league with 21 points (6-15=12) and Lindberg is third in the league with 19 points (6-13=19). The Blaze have the biggest turnaround in the CHL improving by 13 points through 12 games last season. A year ago, the Blaze were 1-9-2 compared to their 8-3-1 record this season. Bloomington plays at Wichita and Tulsa around Thanksgiving and then head home to host Missouri on Saturday and Quad City on Sunday.

By the Numbers

5-0-2: The record of the Quad City Mallards when playing on any day other than Saturday. So far this season, the Flock is without a win in their four Saturday contests. With their shootout win on Sunday against the Rush, Quad City is now 3-0 on in games played on Sunday.

One-Timers

-Wichita forward Gregor Hanson leads all rookies with 17 points (6-11=17) and is tied for fifth overall. The former Northern Michigan University star played 24 games in Sweden last year which keeps him under the line of pro games played to still be eligible as a rookie (25 games).

-Arizona goalie Adam Russo made 27 saves in the Sundogs 2-1 win in Wichita on Saturday night as the former Thunder goaltender beat his old team in a shootout. On the season, Russo is 4-1-2 with a .903 save percentage.

-With Saturday's 3-1 win over Tulsa, the Allen Americans are now 4-0 against the Oilers.

-Rapid City became the final CHL team to play in a shootout when they fell 3-2 in Quad City on Sunday afternoon. The shootout loss for the Rush is their lone extra time game this season. Obi Aduba scored the game winner for the Flock who are tied for the most shootouts in the league this season (4).

-Bloomington has done a ton of damage to their opponents in the second period this year outscoring the opposition 20-7. The +13 differential is the most by any team in any single period this season.

-Wichita has outshot their opponents in 10 of the 13 games they have played going 3-5-2 in those contests. Last year, the Thunder went 23-7 when outshooting their opponents.

-The Denver Cutthroats will look for their first road win of their franchise's history on Wednesday night in Rapid City. The Cutthroats are a solid 5-3 at home but have lost all four road contests they have played so far. Forward Gabe Gauthier will look to keep the offense moving as the forward has the longest active goal streak in the CHL at five games (6G). Bloomington defenseman Jesse Dudas has the longest goal scoring streak of the season at six games.
