Shorthanded Goal Propels Jr. Blues Past Johnstown

The Springfield Jr. Blues finished up the 2014 portion of their home schedule in fine fashion Sunday afternoon.
Joshua Lammon scored a shorthanded goal late in the third period and the Blues beat the Johnstown Tomahawks 2-1 in the rubber match of a three-game series.
Lammon's ninth goal of the season came on a two-on-one with Grant Meyer. Lammon kept the puck and ripped it past Johnstown goalie Andy Lee, playing in only his second game of the NAHL.
Meyer's goal in the first put Springfield up 1-0, tipping a shot from Lester Lancaster at the point. It's the 20th point of the season for Lancaster, who has made a living this season with the point shot getting deflected in front of opposing goaltenders.
Johnstown tied the game just 64 seconds in the second on a power play goal by Casey Linkenheld, his second goal of the weekend.
Dryden McKay, after stopping all shots in relief in the third period Saturday, stopped 34 shots. Lee, the hard-luck loser, made 36 saves.
Things were much calmer in the final game between the two teams that saw plenty of fireworks Saturday night.
Springfield goes back on the road to play Coulee Region next Friday and Saturday before returning to the Nelson Center to play the Soo Eagles on January 2nd and 3rd.
