Delmarva Shorebirds News Release
SALISBURY, MD -- The Delmarva Shorebirds, Class-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, have released their schedule for the 2017 season. As with previous years, the schedule will feature 70 home games at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium and 70 road contests.
The Shorebirds begin the season on the road on Thursday April 6, with four games against the Greenville Drive (Boston Red Sox affiliate), followed by a three game series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers (Miami Marlins affiliate). Delmarva will return home for their Home Opener on Thursday, April 13 against the Hagerstown Suns (Washington Nationals affiliate). The first homestand of 2017 will feature four games against the Suns before a three game series versus the Grasshoppers.
The second homestand of April brings a visit from the Lakewood BlueClaws (Philadelphia Phillies affiliate) from April 24-26, and a four game series against the Charleston RiverDogs (New York Yankees affiliate), from April 27-30.
The month of May features the Shorebirds home for 10 games. From May 10-12, the Columbia Fireflies (New York Mets affiliate) will make their first ever trip to Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The Fireflies were a new South Atlantic League team going into the 2016 season, relocating from Savannah, GA. The final four games of that homestand (May 13-16), will feature the Greenville Drive returning to Arthur W. Perdue Stadium for the second consecutive season. Hagerstown will also return from May 22-24.
The month of June provides Shorebirds fans three weekends of exciting baseball. The Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers affiliate) will be in town from June 1-4. That following weekend Delmarva welcomes the Kannapolis Intimidators (Chicago White Sox affiliate), for their only trip to Salisbury on the season (June 9-12).
Following the South Atlantic League All-Star break June 19-21, Delmarva starts the second half at home for a eight game homestand and welcome the Lakewood BlueClaws (June 22-25) and Hagerstown Suns (June 26-29).
The Lakewood BlueClaws return to Salisbury from July 4-6, as Delmarva is home to celebrate America's birthday on July 4. July 12-14 features Delmarva welcoming the Lexington Legends (Kansas City Royals affiliate) for a three game series, and the Rome Braves (Atlanta Braves affiliate) for a three game visit from July 15-17. To end the month, the Greensboro Grasshoppers will return to Arthur W. Perdue Stadium from July 27-30.
The final full month of the 2017 season in August welcomes Hagerstown (August 7-9), Lakewood (August 10-13), Hickory (August 22-24), and Charleston (August 25-27).
The 'Birds will wrap up the season with a four game series versus the West Virginia Power (Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate) on Labor Day weekend September 1-4.
