STAT OF THE NIGHT: The Shorebirds had four two-out RBIs in their last game, the most two-out RBIs they've recorded since July 28. They had six two-out RBIs in the previous seven games of the road trip. Ohlman leads the 'Birds with 16 two-out RBIs.
PREVIEW: Following a 3-5 road trip to Lakewood and West Virginia, the Shorebirds return to Arthur W. Perdue Stadium for game one against Lakewood. The Shorebirds are 13.5 games out of first place with 14 games remaining, nine of which will be played at Perdue Stadium. The Shorebirds have lost five of six series to Lakewood this season with one split.
WALTERS APPROACHING 13 YEAR OLD MARK: With his SAL high 30th save last night against West Virginia, David Walters is now three saves from tying the single season franchise record (Derek Brown, 33 in 1998). Walters has converted his last nine save chances.
BULLPEN STELLAR: The Shorebirds bullpen (Wright, Simon, Walters) combined to hurl six scoreless innings last night in Charleston. They allowed a combined two hits and retired 12 of the final 13 batters.
FIRST HOMER FOR ROSA: In his 191st at-bat of the season, Garabez Rosa blasted his first homer last night in the sixth inning. It turned out to be the game winner for the Shorebirds. Rosa hit five home runs last season, with his first coming in his 43rd at-bat.
BACK ON UP SWING: After going six straight games without a hit (0-for-17), Joe Oliveira has recorded a hit in four straight games including a 3-for-4 performance last night. Oliveira's average went from .325 to .268 during the hitless stretch. His average is at .288 after last night.
SIX-GAMER: Riley Hornback is currently riding a season long six-game hit streak (8-for-21, .380). His average has jumped from .200 to .231 during the stretch.
LOTS OF LEFTIES: The Shorebirds faced three lefty starters against West Virginia and are scheduled to face three against Lakewood. They saw five lefty starters during the recent road swing.
