HICKORY, NC - After posting a 5-1 record last week, the 1st-Half Northern Division Crawdads enter a nine-game road stretch, traveling to Hagerstown and Lakewood, before returning home on Thurs., Sept. 1 for a five-game set with Greenville to cap off the regular season.

The playoff-bound Crawdads are 71-52 overall this season, the best overall record in the Northern Division. Hickory's 31-24 record in the 2nd half puts them in 2nd place and two games back of the leading Kannapolis Intimidators.

The first home playoff game is on on Friday, September 9 at 7 p.m. with post-game FIREWORKS! The 'Dads opponent has yet to be determined. If necessary, the 'Dads will also play on Saturday, September 10 at 7 p.m.

If the 'Dads win the first series, they will advance to the SAL Championship and hold home games on Monday, September 12 and Tues, September 13 with both games starting at 7 p.m.

PLAYER AND TEAM NOTES:

~ On Saturday against Lexington, CF Jake Skole fell just short of the the Crawdads first-ever cycle, hitting a home run, triple, and double.

~ 2B Odubel Herrera is hitting a team-best .361 with 8 RBI for the month of August.

~ Herrera has hits in 24 of his last 27 games, going 42-109 (.385) and has not gone two games in a row without a hit since 7/18 and 7/20.

~ RF Josh Richmond had a team-high three-game home run streak from 8/17 to 8/19.

~ 3B Christian Villanueva hit three home runs in the series versus Lexington. He leads the team with 17 home runs.

~ Villanueva's .942 fielding percentage is best in the SAL for third basemen.

~ The Crawdads lead the SAL in batting average (.278) and on base percentage (.353).

~ RHP Cody Buckel is a perfect 3-0 in August, boasting a 1.35 ERA and striking out 25 in 20.0 innings of work.

~ Hickory is tied for second in the SAL with a .973 fielding percentage.
