Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage hockey team, led by goaltender David Guerrera, finished game two of a home-and-home series against the Wichita Thunder with a 2-1 shootout win tonight at the Broomfield Event Center. The Rage captured its third consecutive win at home. Rocky Mountain improved to 6-9-2 for 14 points and fourth place in the northwest division.

It was a battle of the goaltenders tonight as both teams tallied 40 shots on goal and both scored just one goal in regulation. Rocky Mountain outscored Wichita 3-1 in the shootout period to earn the win. The Rage owns a 3-1 record in shootouts this season.

After end-to-end action early in the first period, it took a late power-play opportunity for the Rage before the first goal of the game was scored. Rage right winger Dorian Anneck fired a shot on net, Mark Wires picked up the rebound and Bret DeCecco redirected the puck in net at 15:17 to take the 1-0 lead. It was his third goal of the season.

Rocky Mountain outshot Wichita 16-8 and led in scoring chances in the second period, but both teams were scoreless. The Rage peppered Thunder goaltender Sebastien Laplante around the 10 minute mark with a series of shots by John DiPace, Nathan Rosychuk, Anders Strome and Bret DeCecco.

Wichita picked up the game tying goal at 2:46 of the third by Troy Barnes for his first goal of the season, which would mark the last goal scored in regulation.

Rocky Mountain found themselves on the penalty kill to start the overtime period, but Wichita was unable to capitalize on the opportunity. Once at full strength, Rocky Mountain dominated the period outshooting Wichita 7-4 heading into the shootout.

The Rage returns to action on Wednesday (Dec. 6) when they host in-state rival and #1 ranked Colorado Eagles at the Broomfield Event Center. Fans can listen online at www.RockyMountainRage.com or over the radio live on AM Z560 with the pre-game show starting at 6:50 p.m.
