
Hounds Back in Second Place With Win Over Mudbugs

The Youngstown SteelHounds got rid of their three game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in Louisiana on Saturday night in what was a dominating defensive performance by the Hounds and rookie goaltender Brad Roberts who improved to 4-0-1 on the season.
Y-Town got the scoring going early with Chris Richards netting his team leading 12th of the year just 38 seconds into the period to make it one nothing Hounds. The scoring didn't stop as Doug Orr would score eight minutes later to make it 2-0 after one period. Richards finished with a goal and an assist.
The Hounds really showed their muscle in this game as they out shot the Bugs 44-27 with Mark Johnson putting the nail in the coffin scoring his third of the season to make it 3-0. Jeff Christian assisted on Johnson's goal giving him a two helper night.
The big story of the game was Roberts who made 26 saves on 27 shots and put the game out of reach with key saves late including stopping three rebounds in traffic. The lone goal given up came on a short handed two on one break with Karlis Zimis putting in his sixth of the season at 9:53 of the third period.
The win puts the Hounds back in business as they are now two points behind Memphis for first place in the Northeast division who they play tomorrow at 6:05pm in Memphis. With a victory the Hounds can move back into a tie for first place after the first half of an eight game road trip.
Youngstown will be on the road for five more starting tomorrow against Memphis at 6:05. The Hounds will return home on December 21st. You can get your tickets by calling 347-PUCK.
