JACKSONVILLE - Four walks and a Brady Shoemaker grand slam chased Birmingham Barons starter Carson Fulmer, the White Sox top prospect and no. 8 overall pick in the 2015 MLB draft. Fulmer lasted just 2.2 IP and was charged with five earned runs in his first AA start.

Entering the third inning having tossed just 22 pitches, the Suns drew three straight walks to load the bases before Jeremias Pineda mustered a 10-pitch at-bat that continued Fulmer's hectic inning.

Pineda's hustle down the line kept the inning alive, and after an Austin Dean walk loaded the bases once again, Shoemaker scorched his grand slam over the right field wall.

Fulmer departed his AA debut surrendering just one hit, throwing 61 pitches with 31 strikes. The Vanderbilt product pitched from the stretch in his Southern League debut.

At the plate, White Sox no. 4 prospect Adam Engel delivered his first triple of the season, scoring Keenyn Walker for the Barons second run of the game. Engel ranked second in the Carolina League last season with nine triples.

LHP Brian Clark spun two scoreless innings in his first AA appearance to keep Birmingham within reach, but a Barons eighth inning rally was smothered when Tyler Bremer retired Omar Narvaez to close the frame.

LHP Jordan Guerrero takes to the hill for his first AA start tomorrow, facing right-hander Austin Brice. The White Sox no. 6 overall prospect according to MLB Pipeline, Guerrero went 7-3 in 16 starts with the Class-A Winston-Salem Dash last season.
