Jackson, Tenn. - In just his second minor league game, Guillermo Heredia propelled the Jackson Generals to a 9-2 win over the Montgomery Biscuits Friday night in front of 3,119 at The Ballpark at Jackson. The Cuban outfielder broke open a tie game with a seventh-inning grand slam to lift the Generals to victory.

Jackson (2-0) and Montgomery (0-2) were tied at two apiece after a Grandon Goetzman sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. The Generals responded with a two-out rally in the next frame. Tim Lopes and Ian Miller singled to knock Montgomery reliever Adam Kolarek (0-1, 10.80) out of the contest, and Brett Marshall walked the bases loaded to set up the decisive blow.

Heredia took Marshall's 2-2 offering over the 24-foot high fence in left field, putting the Generals on top 6-2. It was the Cuban defector's first minor league home run after hitting 23 over six seasons in Cuba's Serie Nacional.

The Generals added three more runs in the eighth to seal the deal. Steve Baron drove in his first run of 2016 with a double to right field, and Tim Lopes followed with a two-run single to make it 9-2. Lopes finished 3-for-4 in just his second Double-A contest.

Jordan Pries (1-0, 0.00) turned in a dominant relief performance to earn the victory, retiring all 11 men he faced while striking out five. The righty punched out the final four batters he faced to cap off the victory.

Jackson got on the board in the first inning with a pair of runs. D.J. Peterson earned his second RBI in as many nights with a single up the middle, and Benji Gonzalez came home on one of three Montgomery errors.

The Biscuits got back into the game in the second when Casey Gillaspie hit an opposite-field home run to right to give the visitors their first run of the season. He was the only player to reach base for Montgomery the first time through the lineup.

Ryan Yarbrough battled through 5.1 innings in his Double-A debut, giving up a pair of runs on five hits and three walks. He wiggled his way out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth inning, inducing a double play to end the threat.

The Generals will try to make it three in a row Saturday night at The Ballpark. Righty Sam Gaviglio (0-0, -.--) takes the bump for Jackson opposite former Arkansas Razorback Ryne Stanek (0-0, -.--) for Montgomery.
