Spokane Shock News Release
The Spokane Shock announced today that LB Kevin McCullough and K Brian Jackson have been added to the 2008 roster.
McCullough, 6'2" 245, finished his collegiate career as a Cincinnati Bearcat (2004-2006) and was awarded first Team All Big-East Conference honors his senior season. In two years as a Bearcat, McCullough tallied 132 total tackles - including 24.5 tackles for a loss - with two interceptions and four fumble recoveries. McCullough signed a free-agent contract with the New York Jets in 2007 before being released in training camp.
"Watching Kevin's film we thought his football instincts and physical play will make him a force in our league," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "It's easy to see why he had an NFL opportunity."
Jackson, 5'7" 185, joins the Shock roster after spending brief time with the AFL's New York Dragons and the Cleveland Gladiators and the NFL's Chicago Bears.
Prior to his professional experience, Jackson finished a decorated career at Ball State University where he was named the MAC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2006. During his career at Ball State, Jackson made 37 of 38 point after attempts. He finished second in school history for most points scored with 258. Additionally, his 40 career field goals, including a long of 52 yards and a 46-yarder at Michigan, is third best in school history.
"Brian Jackson is an extremely accurate kicker," Shackleford said. "He had a great collegiate career and he proved himself in his AFL workouts."
Shackleford and the Shock will host the Amarillo for an exhibition on March 20th at the Yakima SunDome. Tickets are on sale now through TicketsWest.
