Conquest Open Tryouts Coming Up On Sunday

ALBANY, NY - The Albany Conquest announced today that the team's open tryouts are coming up this Sunday, February 24th at the Center City Arena in Schenectady, NY.
The Conquest's Annual Winter Tryouts are open to all players and positions and it marks the first official team workout for newly appointed Head Coach Jeff Hoffman. Albany signed six players from their 2006 Fall Tryouts and they have invited three players to their 2008 training camp from the Annual Fall Tryouts on December 2nd. The Conquest have announced eight players for their 2008 lineup so far, but there is still roster space available for the upcoming season.
"There is a rich talent pool of football players in the Capital District," said Coach Hoffman. "I know that we will find more area talent during our upcoming tryouts, in addition to the local athletes already on our roster."
The pre-registration fee is $40.00, while registration at the door will be $60.00. Pre-registration begins immediately, but must be completed before Friday, February 22nd to receive the advance sign-up discount. Registration and athlete check in on Sunday, February 24th will begin at 8:00 am at the Center City Arena and the workout will run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. All players will receive a Conquest T-Shirt, but must bring their own cleats/turf shoes and athletic gear to train on the indoor field-turf surface.
Offensive and Defensive players will be tested in the following physicals areas: 40-yard dash, short shuttle, broad jump and agility drills. Kickers are not required to complete the physical tests, but will be assessed in the following: kickoffs, PAT's, field goals and onside kicks.

The Conquest will begin their 2008 season on the road at the Mahoning Valley Thunder on Saturday, March 29th at 7:05 pm. The Conquest's home opener will be on Sunday, April 13th at 4:00 pm against the Peoria Pirates at the Times Union Center.
