Tulsa Talons News Release

The af2's Tulsa Talons keep adding to their roster for the 2008 season with the assignment of former Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz Defensive Back, Jon Holland by the af2. Holland joins the Talons for his third year of arena ball. He gained af2 experience playing the past two seasons with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz.

"Jon is an experienced player who is going to be a real asset to our team this season. He was one of the toughest DB's, from an ability and knowledge standpoint, that we've played against the past two seasons," Head Coach Mitch Allner said. Last season, while at OKC, Holland (5-11, 187 lbs) recorded 60 total tackles (49 Solo), 8 pass breakups, and 1 fumble recovery. He played in 8 games, suffering an injury mid-season. Defensively, Holland had an outstanding season in 2006, recording 68 solo tackles, 17 assists and 4 interceptions for 53 yards.

Prior to his af2 playing time, he played college ball at Oklahoma State University as a Free Safety, where he was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team in 2004. Before transferring to OSU, Holland was a two-year starter at Northeastern A&M, leading the Norse defense in tackles and ranking the 22nd-Best Junior College Defensive Back in the country.
