Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

(Moline, IL) - For the first time in Quad City professional sports history, the Quad City Flames, Quad Cities River Bandits and the Quad City Steamwheelers have announced a joint ticket promotion for area fans. The Pro Sports Triple Play includes a ticket to the opening home game for both the River Bandits and the Steamwheelers as well as a ticket to the March 29th Flames game. The ticket package will cost $20, a savings of $8 off the walk-up prices if the tickets were purchased separately. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from each ticket package sold will go towards the expansion of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Genesis Health System's East Campus.

"One of the many things that makes the Quad Cities such a great place to live, work, and raise a family is the quality of life here," explained new River Bandits owner Dave Heller. "A big part of that is the many entertainment options that people have in this community. But we could not offer this package without Genesis' involvement in this program, which has been a key from the very beginning. They support all three of our teams and gave us all a common foundation on which we could build a working relationship. Not only did Genesis encourage and support our effort to work together, they gave us a great community cause to support in the NICU expansion."

Triple Play Helps Littlest Quad Citians

"We're very pleased to be a part of this unique partnership between these great teams," said Ken Croken,

Vice President of Corporate Communications and Marketing for Genesis Health System. "One of the reasons we are expanding the Genesis Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at this time is because of the unique partnership between the Genesis Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the nationally known University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Because of the Genesis partnership with the University of Iowa, our NICU has experienced a much higher census of sick babies, requiring us to expand to meet the needs of the region we serve. This expansion is a reflection of the confidence that Quad Cities families have placed in us when their babies need specialized care."

One Price Gets Fans In To Three Important Games

The Pro Sports Triple Play provides a ticket to an important game for each team. The package provides a ticket to the Steamwheelers home opener on Friday, March 28, followed by an important divisional match-up for the Flames as they make their playoff push. The three-game ticket package concludes with a ticket to opening day at newly re-named Modern Woodmen Park, as the River Bandits begin a new era of Quad Cities baseball on Thursday, April 3.

The ticket package can be purchased at a special concourse table set up at each of the upcoming Flames games, at the Steamwheelers office and select public appearances for each team leading up to March 28. Fans can also go online and purchase the ticket package by following links on each of the teams' web sites. Links to the online purchase area will be included in upcoming e-newsletters to fans, as well.

March 28 - Quad City Steamwheelers vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers

The Steamwheelers start the Pro Sports Triple Play with a 7:00 p.m. game on March 28, when they take on former 'Wheelers coach Rich Ingold and his Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers at the i wireless Center in Moline. That night is Quad City International Airport Night and the first 1,000 fans will receive a 'Wheelers rally towel. In addition, that night's pre-game ceremony will feature a special celebration as the team retires 'Wheelers legend (and now Offensive Coordinator) Shon King's jersey.

"All three area sports teams provide a high level of quality, affordable entertainment," said Shawn Brown, the Vice President/General Manager of the Quad City Steamwheelers. "This package is perfect for the casual sports fan who wants to sample the sport offerings in the Quad Cities as well as for the die-hard fan looking for a week of exciting sports entertainment. The best part of this deal is that all three teams are partnering together for the first time to help support the Genesis Health System NICU."

"As for the game, any time we play Rich and the Pioneers, you know it's going to be a high-scoring slugfest. It will be a great way to kick off our season and I hope our fans will come out and support the Flames and River Bandits, too, as this is an important week for all three teams."

March 29 - Quad City Flames vs. Milwaukee Admirals

On Saturday, March 29, the Flames face the Milwaukee Admirals at 7:00 p.m. at i wireless Center in Moline. The game is a pivotal contest as the Flames continue to battle Milwaukee for a spot in the 2008 Calder Cup Playoffs.

"We are proud to take part in this unique promotion with the other professional sports teams in the Quad Cities," said Flames President Tim Taylor. "We always make efforts to put fans first, and this opportunity was a way to do that while also combining efforts with the other teams. In addition, Genesis is a great partner with the Quad City community, and we are always happy to assist them in any way possible."

April 3 - Quad Cities River Bandits vs. Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

The River Bandits complete the Pro Sports Triple Play at 7:00 p.m. when the team opens its season against one of its divisional foes at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport. This package provides fans with their only opportunity to purchase discounted tickets for what figures to be a historic Opening Day on the riverfront.

Not only will the ballgame mark the much-anticipated return of River Bandits baseball to the Quad Cities, but it will also be full of promotions. In addition to a Thirsty Thursday featuring half-price draft beer, wine and fountain sodas, the contest will be followed by an exhilarating fireworks display. After a season full of upgrades, the newly re-named Modern Woodmen Park promises to host an enhanced assortment of in-game entertainment as new management continues to show their commitment to increasing the value of a day at the ballpark for local fans.

"We have been counting down to Opening Day for quite some time," said General Manager Ben Burke. "April 3 will mark the beginning of a new era in Quad Cities baseball, and we're glad to be able to share that with the Flames, the Steamwheelers, and Genesis Health System. All four of our organizations are committed to improving the quality of life for Quad Citians, and we're proud to be a part of this innovative ticket package."
