Sheehan Stops 33 in Shootout Loss

LAFAYETTE, La. - Garrett Sheehan stopped all 33 shots he faced in regulation and overtime, but the Mississippi RiverKings (13-4-2) lost 1-0 in a shootout to the Louisiana IceGators (7-9-2) in Lafayette on Saturday night.

The RiverKings peppered IceGator netminder Brad Barone for 15 shots in the opening frame, but none found the back of the net. They outshot Louisiana 41-33 in the contest and were held scoreless on five power play opportunities.

After a scoreless 65 minutes of regulation and overtime, the teams headed to a shootout. After each team had three goals a piece through the first five rounds, the game headed to sudden death. Both Barone and Sheehan stood tall through 14 rounds before Jeremy Boyer beat Sheehan between the legs to give the IceGators a 1-0 win.

Sheehan (0-0-1) took the loss in his first professional game after stopping all 33 shots against. Barone (1-1-0) picked up the win after stopping all 41 shots against.
