Sharks Split Doubleheader with Tobs on Thursday Night

Wilmington, N.C. - The Wilmington Sharks (6-6, 20-19) split a doubleheader at home against the Wilson Tobs (5-5, 20-16) on Thursday night as they took game one 2-0 and the Tobs came from behind in game two to win 4-3.
Tyler Bolton threw lights out again in game one for the Sharks as he threw a complete game shutout as he gave up four hits and struck out seven to improve his record to 5-0 on the year.
The Sharks got going in game one with an RBI off the bat of Andrew Amaro in the bottom of the third inning to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead. Amaro struck again with his bat in the bottom of the fifth inning as he roped an RBI double to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead. That was all the run support Bolton needed to pick up the win.
In game two the Sharks got out in front early as Zach Stephens hit towering home run over the left center field fence for his sixth of the year to give them an early 1-0 lead. Collins Cuthrell lead off the fifth for the Tobs with a single and eventually scored on a two out RBI double off the bat of Bradley Morton to even up the game at 1-1.
Zach MacAneney gave lead back to the Sharks in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two RBI double to make it 3-1 Wilmington.
The Tobs were not done as they were able to load up the bases in the top of the seventh inning. Ridge Gonsoulian walked to bring in a run and cut the lead to 3-2. The next hitter for the Tobs Sean Godfrey singled through the right side to tie up the game and on a catcher's interference call while Seth Neely was at the plate, he was awarded first and a run came in to give the Tobs the 4-3 lead. The Tobs were able to hang on in the bottom half of the seventh to pick up the win.
The Wilmington Sharks go on the road on Friday night as they take on the Columbia Blowfish with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
The Wilmington Sharks are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 17th season in 2013, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
