JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Jacksonville Sharks announce today the signing of wide receiver Rob Jones who enters his third season in the National Arena League and first with the Jacksonville Sharks.

Robert Jones (5'11,185) recently played receiver for the Tampa Bay Thunder of the Football Federation Alliance (FFA). Jones helped the Thunder to a perfect 4-0 record. While with Tampa Bay he recorded five catches for 140 yards and one touchdown. He also served on the Thunder's punt return unit where he added four returns for 45 yards. Jones played for the Orlando Predators in 2021 playing in five games and logging 15 catches for 126 yards.

Jones began his NAL career in 2019 signing with the New York Streets. As a rookie, he led New York in all purpose yards with 1164 yards averaging 105 yards a game which ranked him fifth overall in the NAL.. In Jones rookie debut he hauled in 65 receptions for 859 yards and 20 receiving touchdowns which included five scores in a single game against the Orlando Predators. Jones also served as the Streets kick returner where he totaled 258 return yards in 2019. After his season with the New York Streets Jones played for The Spring League during their 2019 season.

Jones finished his career at the University of Delaware, the four-year letter winner had 36 career games played. In 2012 he had 12 starts, caught 82 career passes for 1,079 yards with eight touchdowns. The University of Delaware has Jones ranked number 23 with 1,079 receiving yards, number 10 all-time for career punt returns (43) and punt return yardage (301), he ranked 5th in career punt returns (43) among NCAA FCS players and he ranked number 2 among Delaware players with 1,419 all-purpose yards.

Rob Jones is from Tampa, FL where he played for Armwood High School. Jones was a skill player during his high school career spending time at wide receiver, quarterback, and kick returner. Jones was one of many Armwood players that completed an historic 12-1 season where they advanced to the state playoffs in 2008. Sending several players from that team including Jones to Division I FBS programs. He led Armwood HS in receiving as both a junior and senior and earned first team All-Western Conference honors as a senior as both a receiver and kick returner. The team went 51-4 during his four seasons, was state runner-up in 2005, and captured three district and two regional titles.
