Sharks Re-Sign Veteran Defensive Lineman Damien Jacobs

JACKSONVILLE - The 2019 National Arena League Champion Jacksonville Sharks have announced today the re-signing of Defensive Lineman Damien Jacobs for his fourth season of arena football.
Jacobs (6'3, 300) returns to Jacksonville after helping the Sharks win another NAL championship. During the championship game, Jacobs recorded 1.5 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, one forced fumble, and a huge sack on Carolina quarterback Charles McCullum for a seven-yard loss. Jacobs and the Sharks defense was a major factor in the Sharks 52-48 NAL Championship victory forcing five total sacks, two interceptions, a fumble recovery for a touchdown, and a blocked kick recovered for a touchdown.
In 2018, Jacobs had a career season in arena football recording 15.5 tackles, five sacks, four recovered fumbles, two interceptions, and added a pass breakup, forced fumble, blocked kick, and safety to add to his season total. Jacobs earned the Second Team All-NAL honors and the NAL Award for Most Improved Player. Jacobs began his career in 2017 where he split time between the Georgia Firebirds and the Jacksonville Sharks. Starting the year with the Firebirds Jacobs starting on Georgia's defensive line before finishing the year with the Jacksonville Sharks. As a rookie, he amassed 14 tackles, four sacks, two safeties, two fumbles recovered, and one interception. Prior to his arena football career, Jacobs was signed by the Buffalo Bills of the NFL where he competed in training camp with the Bills during the 2014 season, he also signed with the CFL's Montreal Alouettes before launching his arena football career.
Jacobs finished his college career at the University of Florida where he had 34 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one interception as a Gator. Prior to UF, Jacobs played at the JUCO level with East Mississippi Community College, a college that debuted in the first two seasons of the Netflix series "Last Chance U". During his time at EMCC Jacobs recorded 47 tackles, two sacks, and two recovered fumbles and won two national championship titles with the Lions..
Jacobs is a native of Gibson, LA, and attended high school at H.L. Bourgeois High School during which time he was ranked 75th overall in the nation for defensive lineman and third in the state of Louisiana.
