
Sharks defeat Wolf Pack 6-2 at Trinity College

Hartford, CT - The Worcester Sharks (2-0-0-0) scored six goals on 39 shots in an impressive 6-2 victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack (1-1-0-1) in the second and final exhibition game at Trinity College in Hartford, CT on Saturday night.
Matt Tennyson (2-1-3), Evan Trupp (2-0-2), Travis Oleksuk (0-2-2), and Bryan Lerg (0-2-2) all had multiple point games for the Sharks while Troy Grosenick went the distance in goal for the victory with 14 saves. Jeremy Langlois and Daniil Tarasov also scored for Worcester as the Sharks outshot the Wolf Pack 39-14 in the win. The Sharks open up the regular season on Saturday, October 11 in Binghamton, NY vs. the Senators.
After Daniil Tarasov dropped the mitts with former Shark Mikael Tam at 4:06, Hartford grabbed a 1-0 lead with a late power play strike by Chris Bourque (1st) at 19:43. Bourque ripped a snap shot past Troy Grosenick from ten feet after a nice centering feed by Mat Bodie for the only score of the period. Worcester fired 14 shots on Jason Missiaen while Troy Grosenick made nine saves in the opening frame as the Sharks trail 1-0 through twenty minutes.
The Sharks exploded for three goals in the middle frame to take a 3-1 advantage. Evan Trupp (1st) tied the score as he found some room between the pads of Missiaen at 5:24 after the Sharks won an offensive zone draw in the Hartford zone. Worcester would go on a three minute major power play after Shawn O'Donnell received a major penalty for interference and a game misconduct after he hit Bryan Lerg in front of the Worcester bench. Konrad Abeltshauser immediately dropped the mitts and the two had a spirited fight at 6:14 as Abeltshauser also received a penalty for instigating and a ten minute misconduct. On the major power play, Daniil Tarasov (1st) tied the score at 8:31 with a quick deflection at the side of the net after a great feed from Matt Tennyson. Just 42 seconds later, Matt Tennyson (1st) fired a blast through traffic at 9:13 to put the Sharks ahead 3-1 with Travis Oleksuk picking up the only assist. Worcester outshot Hartford 17-2 in the second period.
In the third period, Evan Trupp (2nd) put the Sharks ahead 4-1 at 5:33 and Matt Tennyson connected on a 5-on-3 power play score with a rocket from 40 feet at 11:03 to put Worcester up by four goals. Ryan Bourque (2nd) got Hartford back to within three scores with a nice power play strike from the right circle at 14:47. Jeremy Langlois (3rd) intercepted a pass at center and scored on a breakaway at 16:37 for the final score of the game as the Sharks cruised to a 6-2 victory.
