Sharks add Veteran Wide Receiver Kendal Thompkins

JACKSONVILLE- Wide Receiver Kendal Thompkins (5'10,180) joins the Jacksonville Sharks for his fifth season of arena football. Thompkins most recently played with the Baltimore Brigade in 2017. With the Brigade, Thompkins had seven receptions for 115 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 11 kickoff returns for 166 yards, one of which returned for a touchdown. In 2016, Thompkins played with the Orlando Predators. He recorded 30 catches for 454 yards and three touchdowns. 2015 was Thompkins' best year of his career yet, racking up 89 receptions for 1,189 yards and 17 touchdowns with the Predators. Thompkins started his career in 2014 with the Predators and made an impact, recording 72 receptions for 932 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Gilson attended the University of Miami. In 2009, Thompkins played in 10 games, had two receptions for 33 yards and one touchdown. In 2010, Thompkins played in 11 games, where he recorded one catch for five yards. In 2011, Thompkins recorded three receptions for 21 yards in 12 games. In his senior year, Thompkins played in 12 games, had six catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns.

Gilson is a native of Miami, Florida and played high school football at Northwestern High School in Miami, Florida. In his senior year of high school, Thompkins received the ball 46 times for 839 yards and 14 touchdowns while playing for the 2007 consensus national championship team.
