Shane Victorino Begins Rehab Assignment with PawSox

The Boston Red Sox today sent OF Shane Victorino to Pawtucket on an injury rehab assignment. Victorino has been on Boston's disabled list since May 24 (retroactive to May 21) with a left hamstring strain. He is hitting .283 with 2 HR & 10 RBI in 34 games for the Red Sox this season. Signed as a free agent last December, the two-time National League All-Star and three-time Gold Glove outfielder came into this season with a .275 average along with 90 HR, 409 RBI, and 201 SB in 1076 career games with San Diego (2003), Philadelphia (2005-2012), and the Los Angeles Dodgers (2012). Shane played here at McCoy Stadium against the PawSox while a member of the Scranton/Wiles-Barre Red Barons back in 2005 (he hit .310 in 126 games with 18 HR & 70 RBI to earn International League MVP honors that year).
