Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Hens and Clippers took a 7-7 tie into the ninth before Ramon Cabrera tripled and scored on a walk-off fielder's choice to secure Toledo's second straight victory over Columbus.

The Clippers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first after Cord Phelps singled in a run and Lonnie Chisenhall scored from third on a Casey Crosby balk. Despite his early struggles, Crosby managed to pitch out of a bases loaded jam by getting Matt Carson to ground into a double play to end the inning.

Danny Dorn quickly cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning when he hit a seeing-eye single past the shortstop to score Kevin Russo and bring the Hens' deficit to 2-1. The Clippers stretched the lead back to two in the second when a Matt Lawson infield single scored a man from third to extend their lead to 3-1.

The Mud Hens busted the game open with five runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-3 lead. The rally started when Brandon Douglas singled to score two, and then later scored on a hard comebacker to the mound from Mike Cervenak, who racked up his first RBI as a Hen. Ben Guez finished the rally with a bloop single to center to score two and give the Hens a three-run lead.

Toledo added another in the sixth when Nick Castellanos doubled to score Douglas and open up a 7-3 lead. The Clippers crept back in the seventh thanks to a two-run double from Tim Fedroff to cut the Hens' lead to 7-5. Al Alburquerque then walked Nate Spears with the bases loaded to narrow the Mud Hens' advantage to one.

The Clippers tied the game in the eighth when Cord Phelps connected for a two-out RBI single to even the score at 7-7. The Mud Hens broke the tie in the ninth when Ramon Cabrera tripled high off the right field wall and later scored on a fielder's choice after Lonnie Chisenhall threw away a play at the plate.

The Mud Hens will go for the two-game home series sweep tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. behind LHP Pat Misch.
