WINNIPEG, MB - Winnipeg Blue Bombers linebacker Siddeeq Shabazz has been named defensive player of the week for Week 2 of the CFL season.

Shabazz had a huge game for the Bombers defence this week, delivering numerous big hits and a 36-yard interception return for a touchdown. The Winnipeg linebacker racked up six tackles to go along with his interception in helping the Bombers earn a 42-30 victory over the defending Grey Cup Champion Calgary Stampeders.

"Siddeeq played the way we all know he can play, and he's very deserving of this award," said head coach Mike Kelly.
