Hagerstown Suns News Release
EASTLAKE, OH - On Monday, the Hagerstown Suns (1-4) were unable to overcome a seven-run bottom of the second inning from the Lake County Captains (4-1), losing 9-6.
The Suns started off well, getting two runs on three hits, including doubles by Steve Lombardozzi and Tyler Moore, in the top of the first inning.
After the Captains got one back in the bottom of the first against Suns starter Patrick McCoy (2-2), Lake County unleashed a seven-hit, seven-run barrage in the bottom of the second inning to take an 8-2 lead.
McCoy responded well, lasting five and two-thirds innings and shaking off the tough second, though he did take the loss.
The Suns got a home run from Tyler Moore, his fourth of the season, in the top of the sixth to make it 6-3, and would add another in the sixth plus single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to keep the game competitive.
Hagerstown will now return to Municipal Stadium for a four-game series against the Kannapolis Intimidators starting on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 and gates will open at 6:05 p.m.
The Hagerstown Suns play at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, MD and are a Class "A" affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Ticket packages and sponsorships are available by calling the Suns at 301-791-6266. Visit the Suns on the web at www.hagerstownsuns.com.
