Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Williamsport Crosscutters scored seven runs in the fourth inning to beat the visiting State College Spikes 13-1.

Williamsport took a 2-1 lead when Chris Serritella singled home Brian Pointer in the first inning. Serritella would go 3-for-4 overall with two RBI.

Cutters then scored seven in the fourth off of Spikes' relievers Dalton Friend and Justin Ennis. Mitch Walding led off with a double and scored the first run of the inning on an RBI single by Tyler Greene. Friend was lifted when Pointer drove home Greene to give Williamsport a 5-1 lead. Walding then with his second hit of the inning made it 9-1, when he crushed a ball off the wall in center to score two more runs.

Walding finished 4-for-5 with four RBI.

The highlight of the night may have still been by Roman Quinn in the top of the seventh. Spikes' DH Jacob Stallings grounded a ball off the second base bag. The ball caromed towards the first base side, where Quinn snatched it out of the air, made a 360-degree spin and completed the throw to first. Overall, Quinn finished 2-for-6 with a double, and forced two errors on the basepaths.

Larry Greene reached base on his first four plate appearances and doubled home Brock Stassi to give Williamsport a 10-1 lead in the fifth inning.

The Crosscutters plated three more in the seventh. Walding doubled his RBI-total for the day and increased the lead to 13-1 with a two-run single in the inning.

Hoby Milner picked up the win, facing only nine batters in three scoreless innings of work.
