Macon Mayhem News Release
Hockey players are used to dishing out goals, assists and body checks. On Monday, half of the Macon Mayhem hockey team dished out lunch for people at Macon Outreach.
Players swapped their jerseys for aprons and hockey gloves for serving gloves, while visiting and greeting those who took advantage of the Outreach meal program. In just less than an hour, the Mayhem players served 231 lunches.
"This was tremendous to have the Mayhem here," Robin Frischkorn, assistant director for Macon Outreach, said. "The folks who come through our line appreciate meeting and talking with the local sports stars. And the Mayhem players were so friendly and helpful to them."
Macon Outreach works with area churches, agencies and volunteers to address food, clothing and other needs for residents of Central Georgia. To volunteer at Macon Outreach, like the Mayhem players, call 478-743-8026. Visit the Macon Outreach website at www.maconoutreach.com.
The Mayhem returns to action hosting the Fayetteville FireAntz Saturday night at 7:30 at the Macon Coliseum.
