Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

FORT WORTH, Texas (April 3) - The Fort Worth Brahmas and the Quad City Mallards meet in game three of the opening-round, best-of-seven series Wednesday night at the i wireless Center in Moline, Illinois. Fort Worth won the first two contests at the NYTEX Sports Centre to take a 2-0 series lead and maintain its home-ice advantage.

In game one, the Brahmas came back from a 1-0 deficit after one period of play to score four unanswered goals and win by the final score of 4-1. Second-year forward Phil Fox found the back of the net twice - an even-strength goal at 7:45 of the second period to tie the game 1-1 and a power-play score at 14:29 of the third period to extend the Fort Worth lead to 3-1.

Eric Tallent notched the game-winning goal at 9:03 of the second period as he ripped a slap shot from the left-wing point that deflected off of a Mallards defenseman's stick and past Quad City netminder John Murray. The score was Tallent's first since joining the Brahmas in January.

Nick Schneider added an awarded goal with 37 seconds remaining in regulation as he was taken down from behind with a clear path to the empty Quad City net.

As it did in game one, Fort Worth won game two in comeback fashion as well. The Brahmas trailed twice in the contest and never led until John Snowden's game-winning goal 4:47 into overtime. Tomas Klempa and Calin Wild scored in regulation for Fort Worth.

After missing game one, captain Ross Rouleau returned for game two, adding two assists in the contest. The game was Rouleau's 40th of his postseason career.

Amateur addition Colby Pridham has also assisted on two goals in the series. Each of his assists has come on the game-winning goal.

In two games, Brahmas goaltender Kristofer Westblom is 2-0 with a 1.44 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage. The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan native is one of only three goaltenders who have yet to lose in the 2013 postseason.

Fort Worth has dominated special teams situations through the first two games of the series, going 3-for-9 on the power play and holding the Mallards scoreless on three opportunities with the man advantage.

The series shifts to the i wireless Center for games three and four - and game five, if necessary. Game three will be played Wednesday, April 3 and game four is set for Friday, April 5. Both games begin at 7:05pm. Game five would be Saturday, April 6.

Should the series extend to game six, it will return to the NYTEX Sports Centre Tuesday, April 9 at 7:00pm. If necessary, game seven is set for Wednesday, April 10 at 7:00pm.
