Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

MOLINE, Illinois (April 3) - The Brahmas defeated the Quad City Mallards in overtime Wednesday night for the second consecutive time, as forward Colin Mulvey scored the first goal of his professional career to give the Brahmas a 3-2 win and a 3-0 series lead.

Signed to an amateur try-out agreement in late March, Mulvey joined the club for the 2013 postseason. In just his third game with Fort Worth, the Worcester, Massachusetts native notched the game-winning goal 10:32 into overtime, putting home a rebound off of a Ross Rouleau shot from the point.

Fort Worth continued its success on special teams Wednesday night, scoring a power-play goal and a short-handed goal in regulation. Calin Wild scored short-handed to give the Brahmas a 1-0 lead at 10:09 of the first period when he stole the puck in the Mallards' zone and fired a slap shot past Quad City netminder John Murray. Eric Tallent notched a power-play goal - his second of the postseason - at 6:23 of the third period when he took a feed from Shawn Szydlowski and ripped a slap shot from the point that found the back of the net. Tallent's goal gave Fort Worth a 2-1 lead.

The Mallards got goals in regulation from Mickey Lang at 16:51 of the second period and Anthony Perdicaro at 9:17 of the third period. For Lang, it was his second goal of the postseason after leading Quad City with 41 during the regular season.

The Brahmas were 1-for-5 on the power play, while holding the Mallards scoreless - 0-for-3 Wednesday - on the man advantage for the third straight game. For the series, Fort Worth is 4-for-14 in power-play situations, and Quad City is 0-for-6.

Kristofer Westblom - now 3-0 in the postseason - stopped 32 of 34 shots faced in 70:32 between the posts for the Brahmas. The Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan native now has a 1.54 goals-against average and .935 save percentage in three starts thus far during the 2013 Central Hockey League playoffs.

Murray made 31 saves on 34 shots to earn his second loss of the series.
