The Senators snapped their mini two-game losing streak with a 6-5 win over the Bowie Baysox Tuesday night. The Sens scored three times in the first inning when the first four batters reached on two doubles, a home run, and a double. The game went back and forth until the eighth inning when Taylor Gushue homered for a second time providing the game winning margin.
Ronald Herrera started and went five innings. He allowed five runs, just four earned, on seven hits. He pitched out of trouble in the first when Bowie had a pair of two out hits. Alex Troop was outstanding in earning the win and moving to 3-0 on the season. He went three innings and struck out four, allowing just one hit. Matt Brill pitched a perfect ninth to earn his eighth save this season.
Taylor Gushue homered twice including the solo shot in the eighth that proved to be the winning run. Jake Alu hit a two-run home and doubled, driving in three. The home run was his fourth in the past week. Jecksson Flores doubled and singled and scored a run. Wilson Garcia doubled and singled in three trips. He also walked.
With their three home runs, the Senators have hit 14 home runs in their past six games and 31 in 22 games this season. Harrisburg moved to 13-9 overall and 8-2 on the road.
The Senators and Bowie Baysox play game two of their six-game series Wednesday at 12:05 p.m. in Bowie. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio Harrisburg 96.5FM 95.3FM and 1400AM beginning at 11:55 a.m.
