Jackson, MS; June 9, 2004 â In yet another blowout, the Jackson Senators got the best of the Coastal Bend Aviators 8-1. The scoring for the Senators started in the 2nd inning when 4 runs scored with 2 outs. Hits by Hoffpauir, Oropeza, Langaigne, and McCall lifted the Sens, who wouldn't look back the rest of the game. The Senators scored 2 runs in the 6th and 2 in the 7th while limiting the Aviators to just one run in the 6th inning. Nick Vandegriff had a very smooth outing in the 8 innings he worked, fanning 5 and scattering 7 hits. Coastal Bend's Jose Luiz Lopes was tacked with the loss as he now drops to 4-2 in 2004. The Senators go for a sweep of Coastal Bend tomorrow night with Mark Persails of Jackson, and Mike Smith of Coastal Bend facing off on the mound.
