Smith-Wills Stadium to host first football game
Jackson, MS; August 24, 2005- The Jackson Senators of the Central Baseball League (CBL) announced today that Smith-Wills Stadium, home of the Senators, will host its first ever football game this Friday, August 26th at 7:30 pm when The Veritas School hosts Sylva-Bay Academy in varsity gridiron action.
There are fifteen other games scheduled this season with The Veritas School calling Smith-Wills Stadium home for all its varsity and junior high contests while First Presbyterian Day School will play four of its games here. Other youth league football events are being planned and will be announced at a later date.
Besides athletic events, Smith-Wills Stadium will also host The One Church Revival Tour, a gospel concert, this Sunday, August 28th, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra's on September 9th and the 1st Annual Drumline Challenge on September 18th.
The Jackson Senators are part of the Central Baseball League, an independent league of eight professional baseball teams located throughout four southern states. The league is playing its twelfth season this summer with teams located in Edinburg, El Paso, Ft. Worth, Robstown and San Angelo, Texas; Shreveport, Louisiana; Jackson, Mississippi; and Pensacola, Florida. The CBL will play a 94-game schedule between May and August of 2005.
