Harrisburg Senators News Release
For the second time in four days, the Senators pull off a doubleheader sweep. On Sunday at Metro Bank Park, the Senators beat the Bowie Baysox 6-1 and 1-0 winning their sixth and seventh games respectively. Eric Davis pitched 5.1 innings in game one for the win while Oliver Perez started and pitched 6+ innings in game two for his second win as a member of the Senators.
In game one, the Senators fell behind 1-0 in the first inning, the first lead in the series for Bowie, but they didn't lead the game long. Tyler Moore hit a two-out two-run home run in the bottom of the first giving the Sens a 2-1 lead. After scoring a run in the third, Harrisburg broke the game open with three runs in the sixth. Steve Lombardozzi and Moore both had two hits in game one. Hassan Pena pitched the final 1.2 innings for his fourth save on the season.
In the second game, Oliver Perez and Tim Bascom matched zeroes through the first five innings. In the bottom of the sixth with two outs and no one on base, Jonathan Tucker bounced a single into left field that he turned into a double with sheer hustle. Steve Lombardozzi followed by dropping a double into shallow left center field, scoring Tucker, and giving the Senators a 1-0 lead.
Perez started the seventh and gave up a double to Ronnie Welty. After Perez allowed a lead-off double in the seventh to Ronnie Welty, Jimmy Barthmaier came on to try to secure the win. Barthmaier struck out Pedro Florimon, and after Robbie Widlansky walked, he struck out Buck Britton looking and then Xavier Avery swinging to end the game. Barthmaier earned his first save as a member of the Senators.
The Senators and Bowie Baysox play the final game of their five-game series on Monday at 7:00 p.m. with RH Tanner Roark on the mound for the Sens against RH Wynn Pelzer for the Baysox. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
