Senators Searching For 2010 On-Field Host

February 2, 2010 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release

Harrisburg, PA - Fans who dream of being the Harrisburg Senators' on-field host should mark February 10th on their calendar. As previously announced, the team is holding auditions for the job at a special event at the Harrisburg Mall, running from 5-7 PM. New manager Randy Knorr will also be present to answer questions and sign autographs.

The on-field host will be the most recognizable staff member for the Senators throughout the season. The host will be responsible for introducing fans to the ballpark, officiating on-field contests, and interviewing winning fans after prize giveaways. Potential hosts who take part in the audition will read from a script, and Senators' employees will act as judges.

The team will feature an on-field host at all 71 home games, stretching from the home opener on April 15th through the Senators last home game on August 29th. The Senators are looking for someone that enjoys working with all types of people, possesses boundless energy, and craves the spotlight. The on-field host will receive $50 a game. A passion for Senators baseball is a big plus.

Hopeful hosts can sign up by contacting Emily Winslow at 717-231-4444, extension 109, or by sending an e-mail to ewinslow@senatorsbaseball. Sign-ups run through Tuesday, February 9th.

Knorr, a former catcher for five Major League teams, won two World Series titles with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1992 and 1993. He played in 253 Major League games over 11 seasons. He managed the advanced-A Potomac Nationals in 2008 and served as the bullpen coach for the Washington Nationals in 2006 and 2009. Fans will have the opportunity to question Knorr directly, as well as obtain autographs, during a portion of the two-hour event.

Metro Bank Park is currently undergoing renovations as part of phase II of a two-phase project announced in December 2008. The new ballpark adds to a Harrisburg-Hershey minor league market that is ranked as the best in the country by Street & Smith's Sports Business Journal. The 2010 home opener is Thursday, April 15th at 7:00pm against the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins). The Senators are also hosting the 2010 Eastern League All-Star game, scheduled for July 14th at Metro Bank Park. Season tickets, mini-plans, and group tickets are available either by logging on to www.senatorsbaseball.com or by phoning the Senators at 717-231-4444.
