Aeros Raise $1,000 For Haiti
February 2, 2010 - Eastern League (EL1)
Akron RubberDucks News Release
AKRON, OH " The Akron Aeros would like to thank their loyal Aeros Fan Base for a great week of fundraising for the people of Haiti. The Aeros, with the help of their fans, have raised $1,000 for the people of that devastated country.
"Again we want to send out a special thank you to the greater Akron area for the support they have not only shown the Aeros but the people in Haiti. We feel the money donated will have an immediate impact in bettering the lives of people in that stricken country,"Â said Assistant General Manager Ken Fogel.
The Aeros are in the process of planning another fundraiser, this time for the people of Akron who are suffering from tough economic times. The Aeros feel that there is a need to help not only the people of Haiti, but also those in the local community and are planning a fundraiser with a similar offer in the near future.
UNICEF has been designated by Major and Minor League Baseball as their preferred fund for concerned teams and fans to channel their donations. The Aeros strongly encourage everyone who is able to make additional donations by visiting unicef.org.
Major League Baseball recently donated over $1 million to UNICEF for aid to Haiti. Don't forget that even though we are no longer raising money for the people of Haiti a donation of $10 can still be made via text message by sending the word UNICEF to 20222.
The Aeros begin their defense of their 2009 Eastern League Championship on Thursday, April 8th against the Binghamton Mets in Binghamton, NY. For more information on tickets or all the other festivities planned at Canal Park in 2010, please visit the Aeros online at www.akronaeros.com or call (330) 253-5151.
